APRIL 2025
In terms of properties that were affected by the flooding, unfortunately, there is only funding available for those that were affected by the floods in January 2024. It is understood that the Local Flood Authority team is investigating what is happening further to the south of Countesthorpe and Whetstone in terms of surface water coming from the direction of Willoughby Waterleys.
Here is a link to the Environment Agencies’ updated Flood Risk Map which is referred to by both developers and planning authorities when considering the long term risk of flooding to a site Technical map - https://flood-map-for- planning.service.gov.uk/.
The Parish Council is aware that
any decision on the Gillam Butts application has been delayed until the applicant has undertaken further technical assessments to satisfy the District Council that the proposals have suitably mitigated the risk of the surface water flooding. Miss Joanne Leech, Parish Council Manager, Countesthorpe Parish Council
Thank you to the Parish Council for the above information. The following are just sketches of the areas of the village with planning applications and the likly direction of run-off from the sites should they be approved. Interesting the dark blue areas have a 3.3% chance of flooding each year - they have acheived 100% for the past two years!
