JUNE 2016
THE NEW COUNTESTHORPE HERALD 9
KEEP HEALTHY, WALK LOCAL IN BLABY DISTRICT
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Dear Editor,
By now most of the village will know that The Close Shave barber shop has closed and that I, Paul, have retired after 27 years’ in the village and after 51 years’ in the hairdressing trade.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my customers for their support over many years, for both custom and friendship. I have been truly, truly overwhelmed by their words of thanks and generosity at my leaving the business and hope that it won’t be too long before you find a worthy successor for your custom.
With my thanks and best wishes.Paul
Sir,
Having been a customer of Paul’s for the last 27 years, the closure of his barbers shop, ’The Close Shave’ could not go without some comment from a generation of satisfied customers. Paul has been cutting my hair since we returned back to the village in 1989, then our sons and latterly our grandsons. Whilst we are all delighted to see him go off into well earned retirement and continue with his cycling (and enjoy a new grandchild at the end of April) I will now have to search out another hairdresser. Sadly I understand the lease could not be renewed so that is another job lost in the village, unless of course the owners intend to reopen it as something other than a barbers shop? I remember when we moved to the village in 1980 that this was a florists, but what was it in the long distance past. Doubtless our village historians can tell me?
